Pope Leo XIV has called on US President Donald Trump to find a “way out” to end the US-Israeli war against Iran, in an unusual direct appeal from a pope to the president to end the escalation of the regional conflict.
“I was told that President Trump recently stated that he would like to end the war,” said Love, the first US pope, adding
“I hope he is looking for a way out,” the pope told reporters outside his residence in Castel Gandolfo, near Rome.
“I hope he’s looking for a way to reduce the amount of violence,” he concluded.
