At the suggestion of the Minister of Health Dr. Aide Salčinović, and in accordance with the request of the ZDK Association of Diabetic Associations, activities were initiated to establish diabetes counseling centers in health centers throughout the canton. Funds in the budget for the following year in the amount of 50,000.00 KM have been provided for the implementation of the project.
A meeting with representatives of the Institute for Health and Food Safety Zenica was held yesterday in the premises of the Ministry of Health, ZDK, where they discussed the continuation of activities and concrete steps in the implementation of the project. This project is the result of joint work and agreement, and its goal is to provide more accessible, better quality and organized health care to people with diabetes.
The project will be implemented in stages, in order to ensure its sustainability and quality implementation. The first phase includes the establishment of a register of people suffering from diabetes in the area of the Zenica-Doboj Canton. The register will enable us to have accurate data on the number of patients, their needs and health outcomes, which is the basis for planning and improving health services.
At the same time, additional training will be conducted for health workers who will be engaged in counseling centers. Their professional competence is essential for counseling centers to be able to provide quality support to patients, including advice on treatment, prevention of complications and a healthy lifestyle. It is also planned to equip counseling centers with the necessary resources, thus creating the conditions for their functional and efficient work.
– By establishing a registry of patients, educating healthcare workers and equipping counseling centers, we are creating a foundation for a sustainable system that will permanently provide support to diabetes patients. Our goal is to provide diabetes sufferers with better control of the disease and a better quality of life, to make everyday life easier for their families, and to reduce the costs and consequences of complications for society.
