The official opening ceremony took place in a real sports atmosphere, in front of hundreds of spectators, which once again confirmed that Lukavac rightfully has a significant place on the European map of sitting volleyball for the third time, through the organization of the finals of European club competitions.
The ceremony was addressed by the president of the SKISO Sinovi Bosna club Lukavac Vehbija Tokić, the chairman of the Lukavac City Council Midhat Sarajlić, the president of the Paravolley Europe organization Branko Mihorko and the Minister of Culture, Sports and Youth of Tuzla Canton Damir Gazdić.
– The Ministry will continue to support projects that develop sports, especially Paralympic sports, and affirm young and healthy values in society – emphasized Minister Gazdić, who officially opened the competition.
Vehbija Tokić pointed out that Lukavac is a city of sports and hospitality, emphasizing the rich tradition and willingness of the hosts to host major international competitions. The Chairman of the City Council, Midhat Sarajlić, welcomed all the teams, reminding them of the successes of BiH. teams in sitting volleyball, including the team from Lukavac, which has been among the best in the country for decades. Branko Mihorko emphasized that this is not the first arrival of Paravolley Europe in Lukavac, and that the quality of the organization confirms the continuity of work and the high standards set by the host.
The opening ceremony was also attended by the president of the Paralympic Committee of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Sabahudin Delalić, the president of the BiH Sitting Volleyball Association, Hajrudin Zekić, as well as representatives of institutions and organizations that provided significant support in the realization of the tournament.
Before the ceremonial opening, the first matches of the tournament were played. The Neptunes de Nantes team won against KSO Smeč with a score of 3:0, while OKI Banja Luka – Belgrade defeated Sitting Bucks Volleyball Club with a score of 3:0.
In the afternoon and evening, SKISO Sinovi Bosna Lukavac and KSO Smeč, WZSN Start Wroclaw and OKI Banja Luka – Belgrade will compete, then Neptunes de Nantes and Sinovi Bosna, while the day will close with a duel between Sitting Bucks Volleyball Club and WZSN Start Wroclaw.
The Golden League in Lukavac gathered teams from five European countries and once again confirmed the capacity of Bosnia and Herzegovina to organize top international sports events.
The sponsors of the tournament are the City of Lukavac, the Government of Tuzla Canton, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth of Tuzla Canton and the Federal Ministry of Culture and Sports, while the general sponsor is the Tourist Board of Tuzla Canton. Among the sponsors are Lukavac cement, BH Telecom, Teknox Group BiH and Bauerfeind.
