The House of Representatives of the Parliament of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina adopted the Budget Proposal for 2026, which will enter into force only when it is adopted by the House of Peoples, whose session is scheduled for January 23. As previously emphasized, the budget amounts to nearly nine billion KM.
The deputies held the 28th regular session yesterday and today, where the first items on the agenda are the Budget Proposal for 2026 and the Law on Budget Execution, which amounts to 8,898,279,146 KM, 649 million KM more than in 2025.
The budget was voted with 56 votes “for”, 23 votes “against” and two “abstentions”.
The Government of FBiH partially accepted the amendments of the Commission for Youth Affairs and the Committee for Economic Policy, and did not accept the other amendments. Admir Čavalić’s amendment was adopted, which will include 20 million KM in the budget for the Solidarity Fund for oncology patients.
The Government of the FBiH has already accepted two amendments, which refer to the increase in funds for the Sarajevo Film Center and the FBiH Railways.
The adopted budget for 2026 must also receive a majority of votes in the House of Peoples, and the session with this agenda item is scheduled for Friday, January 23.
Representatives from the FBiH House of Representatives also discussed other legal solutions at the previous session, such as the Law on Pension and Disability Insurance and the Law on Police Officers of the FBiH.
A large part of the discussion in both parts of the 28th regular session was occupied by the proposal to enable women in labor to be accompanied during childbirth. On the first day of the session, there was a vote on whether this proposal would be on the agenda of the session, however, the technical service counted the votes incorrectly and determined that the initiative did not make it onto the agenda.
However, it turned out that the proposal still had a sufficient number of votes, so the representatives today, on the second day of the session, immediately at the beginning of the session asked to correct this mistake.
Chairman Dragan Mioković initially protested, stating that the agenda had already been adopted and that he could include that item as the first item at the next session. However, according to the Rules of Procedure, the representatives had the right to vote on this matter, and it was voted that the proposal on women in labor be on the agenda today, it says. Klix.
