The European Union and China began negotiations on the abolition of customs in the import of Chinese electric cars, the German newspaper Handelsblatt reported, and the reuters reported.
The European Commissioner for Trade, Maros Šefčovich met with Wang Wenta, during the visit to Beijing at the end of the departure, and both sides agreed that the EU customs would address the negotiations, writes Handelsblatt.
The European Union has introduced customs to Chinese electric cars (EV) at the end of last year, explaining that they were necessary to oppose cheap loans, soils and raw materials, and other subsidies. The goal was not to exclude Chinese car manufacturers, but create a balance on the market.
The European Commission stated that it was willing to continue negotiations with China on the alternatives to customs.
