The Ministry of Health of the Zenica-Doboj Canton passed the Decision on determining the list of deficient health services for the year 2026, with the aim of improving the availability of health care and reducing waiting times for diagnostic examinations.
The decision is the result of cooperation between the Ministry of Health of the Zenica-Doboj Canton, the ZDK Health Insurance Institute and the Zenica Cantonal Hospital.
Minister of Health ZDK dr. Aida Salčinović signed the aforementioned decision and thus marked the beginning of activities on its implementation.
The list of deficient health services, which are recognized as priority, includes: ultrasound examination of the heart (echocardiography), color Doppler of blood vessels, ultrasound examination of the neck and periphery, ultrasound examination of breasts with axillae, CT native LSCT and CT with contrast.
The implementation of this decision has been entrusted to the director of the ZDK Health Insurance Institute, and its implementation is expected to contribute to a significant relief of existing capacities and faster provision of services to patients.
We remind you that the Prime Minister of the Zenica-Doboj Canton, Nezir Pivić, previously announced a systemic solution to the problem of long waiting lists in health institutions in the Canton, and the adoption of this decision represents a concrete step and a path towards their complete abolition.
The Ministry of Health emphasizes that this move should lead to a significant reduction and even complete abolition of the waiting list at the Zenica Cantonal Hospital and result in greater satisfaction of the insured of the ZDK Health Insurance Institute and patients who have been pointing to the problem of long waits for health services for years.
– Our goal is that every citizen of the canton has a timely and quality health service. By determining the list of deficient services, we are creating the basis for making them more accessible, because the health of our citizens must be a priority – said the Minister of Health Dr. Aida Salčinović.
