Dutchwoman Antoinette Rijpma-de Jong won the 1500m speed skating race at the Winter Olympics in Milan on Friday.
Rijpma-de Jong, the world champion in this discipline from 2023, celebrated with a time of 1:54.09 minutes, which was six hundredths faster than the silver Norwegian Ragne Wiklund (25), while the bronze Canadian Valerie Maltais (35) was 31 hundredths behind.
This was the Dutch woman’s second medal in Milan, as she was a member of the Dutch team that won silver in the reach race.
Also, this gold was her second Olympic medal in the 1500 meters after the bronze in Beijing 2022.
