Italian portal Scenari Economici announced that the projectile of the capital air-air type PL-15e, which fell in the territory of India, during the fight between Pakistan and India, as “valuable military prey” that could help discover advanced Chinese technological secrets.
In the Report prepared by Fabio Lugano, the PL-15e, one of the most advanced Chinese missiles, crashed earlier this week, and that his parts were completely undamaged, but also to her allied countries.
The author conveys Pakistan officials from the press conference, which state that the combat planes of Chinese production J-10 and JF-17, as well as the American F-16 Viper hunters, participated in the airflash against Indian forces in the night between 6. and 7. May. Also, they clearly pointed out that the pl-15 projects were used in the fighting with India.
Destruction of projectiles
Lugano says many parts of the Chinese projectile PL-15e fell on the Indian territory along the border with Pakistan, where the larger parts remained intact. Photos and videos show most of the rear part of this rocket and what seems like part of the guidance section, lying on the ground.
The author explained that, according to the information obtained from the local population, members of the Indian air force arrived at the place to ensure space and destroy the missile. However, although there is a video, there seems to be no photos that show the physical destruction of the PL-15E missile components. Probably the Indian side has not resolved all parts of the projectile, given their intelligence.
Why did the projectile remain undamaged?
The author claims that the loss of missiles, especially when it remains relatively undamaged, can be the result of several factors. Some of them are launches that are performed at maximum distances beyond the visual range of projectiles, without constant support in guidance from the plane that launched it.
Such launches can be used for defensive or offensive purposes, whereby the missile is fired according to the target and switches to “Fire and Forget” mode, without the help of the aircraft, which has launched it a long time before its browser is activated.
During these launches, the missile tries to estimate the position of the target based on the initial data, until the launch spacecraft stops sending updates in the middle of the path. Then the built-in radar missile is activated, which has a limited range, and begins to search for a target when assessed that it is in range.
According to the author, this way of fire reduces the chances of guessing the goal, but it can significantly increase the likelihood that the plane that launches the projectile remains out of danger.
Given that neither Indian neither Pakistani planes crossed the border in these aircries, it is high probability that the launches are performed from large distances with limited citation from the launch spacecraft.
The author also noticed that the possibility of a lesser missile failure cannot be excluded, which could reduce its flight performance, or, when it comes to smaller parts, it can be the result of collisions with Indian airplanes.
Missile skills
The author added that the PL-15e rocket is in the service in China from the mid-2010 and is considered one of the most advanced Chinese air-air projectiles. It is believed to have been developed as a close Pandan to the American advanced projectile air-air secondary range AIM-120 (Amraam).
He added that this Chinese projectile radar is guided and equipped with an active electronically controlled Athens array (AESA), which offers active and passive modes.
It also highlights improved resistance to radio frequency countermeasures compared to their Chinese predecessors, and has a two-way data connection that allows you to update the guidelines after launch.
The author concluded that the maximum registration range of the projectile PL-15e is approximately 200 kilometers, while the range of export variants PL-15e, which is currently using Pakistan, is probably not exceeding 145 kilometers, the Aljazeera transmits.
