The Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina unanimously adopted several conclusions, at the 27th regular session, considering the Information on the activities of the institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina at all levels of government in connection with the intention of the Republic of Croatia to dispose of radioactive waste at the Trgovska gora location.
The Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina takes note of the draft strategy for the protection of the legal interests of BiH in relation to the disposal of radioactive waste and spent nuclear fuel at the location of Trgovska Gora, which was prepared by the Legal Team at the behest of the Council of Ministers of BiH, as well as the previous activities of the institutions of BiH in connection with the actions of the Republic of Croatia regarding the transport and disposal of radioactive waste, used sources and spent nuclear fuel near the state border of BiH in the region of Trgovska Gora near Dvor na Una, and appreciates that this is an important document that ensures harmonized and coordinated activities of all levels of government in Bosnia and Herzegovina in order to protect the interests of BiH and its citizens.
The Presidency of BiH requires the Council of Ministers of BiH to urgently consider and adopt the strategy from point 1 of these conclusions and to instruct the competent ministries and other institutions to activate the mechanisms provided for by international conventions (especially the Espoo Convention on Environmental Impact Assessment, i.e. the environment in a transboundary context and the Aarhus Convention on Citizen Participation in these Matters).
The Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina instructs the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of Bosnia and Herzegovina to, without delay, in cooperation with the entities, cantons and local communities, prepare and consolidate expert analyzes on the potential consequences of nuclear waste disposal at the Trgovska Gora site for the environment.
The Presidency of BiH instructs the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of BiH to undertake activities to inform international institutions and the public about the potential harmful consequences of the disposal of nuclear waste at the location of Trgovska Gora.
The Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina invites the Office of the Attorney General of Bosnia and Herzegovina to actively participate in monitoring the situation in connection with the case of Trgovska Gora and to consider taking all necessary legal and other measures, including the initiation of an international dispute, arbitration or other legal proceedings against the Republic of Croatia in connection with the specific case.
The Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina instructs the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina to regularly inform the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the public about all measures taken, in accordance with the development of the situation and international processes related to the aforementioned issue.
The Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina is of the opinion that Bosnia and Herzegovina should use all available legal and diplomatic means in order to protect its citizens and territory from potential long-term and irreversible consequences, and believes that the active role of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina, on the above-mentioned issue, is crucial for democratic legitimacy, institutional strength and the unique response of the state of BiH to that issue.
The Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina passed a Decision approving Bosnia and Herzegovina’s membership in the Global Forum on Cyber Expertise (GFCE).
The Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina passed the Decision on the correction of the Financing Agreement between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Republika Srpska and the European Investment Bank – Water and Sanitation RS, and gave consent to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina to initiate the procedure for Bosnia and Herzegovina’s accession to the Regional Center for Cyber Capacities (Western Balkans Cyber Capacity Center – WB3C), based in Podgorica.
The Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina made a Decision on the acceptance of the agreement and the determination of the signatories of the Grant Agreement between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Sweden for the Project “Improving the efficiency of the courts and the responsibility of judges and prosecutors in Bosnia and Herzegovina – phase four (ICEA IV)”, Financial contribution of SIDA, number 16824 and the Decision on determining the list of candidates for the election of a judge on behalf of Bosnia and Herzegovina in the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) in Strasbourg – announced the Public Relations Service of the Presidency BiH.
