A total of 19,856 vehicles were registered in Tešnje in 2024, which confirms the strong and long-term growth trend in the number of motor vehicles in this municipality.
Compared to 2008, the number of vehicles increased by 9,262 or even 87 percent, almost doubling in 16 years.
A particularly pronounced growth was recorded in the last five years, during which the number of registered vehicles increased by 3,676, or 23 percent. Private vehicles make up about 80 percent of the total number of registered vehicles and there are currently 15,830 of them, while in 2008 there were 8,552 of them. In the same period, the number of private and cargo vehicles almost doubled.
When it comes to the Zenica-Doboj canton, Tešanj stands out as the municipality with the largest share of registered vehicles. Even 26 percent of all trucks in ZDK are registered in Tešnje (1,781), as well as 24 percent of road tractors and 15 percent of all passenger vehicles in the canton.
Behind Tešnj is Zenica with 1,439 registered trucks.
The structure and growth of the number of vehicles are directly related to economic activities and the overall development of Tešnj, but at the same time they represent a serious challenge for the planning, development and financing of road infrastructure.
The growing number of vehicles imposes the need for additional investments in roads, their technical characteristics, sidewalks, parking spaces and supporting infrastructure.
According to statistics, Tešanj has 43,856 inhabitants, while CIPS records record 41,162 issued ID cards. The difference in these data is partly explained by the fact that around 9,300 inhabitants refer to minors under the age of 18, it says. Klix.
