Tešanj has been considered one of the industrial centers of Bosnia and Herzegovina for decades, and the company Medena Commerce once again confirms why this city is often called the heart of the domestic metal industry.
Today it is located in their production facility the largest CNC machine in the regiona symbol of technological progress, knowledge and a long-term vision of development.
From a small workshop to a modern industry
The story of Medena Commerce begins in 1993, while the first metalworking workshop was launched in 1995. Already in 1998 the first production plant was builtthus beginning the continuous growth of the company, which today is considered one of the most technologically advanced in the sector.
During more than three decades of business, Medena has developed a distinctive work model that combines:

- professional staff,
- and a clear orientation towards green and sustainable production.
Women on CNC machines break stereotypes
The special value of the company is its team. He works in Medena today 67 employeesamong whom there are women who equally operate CNC machines – which is still a rarity in the metal industry.

The largest CNC machine in the region – and a school for future personnel
Today, Medena Commerce is not only a production plant, but also educational center. Currently, seven students are undergoing practical training for occupations:
- CNC operator
- metal worker
- computer electrical technician
Mentored by certified experts, students work on real projects, including the largest CNC machine in the region. This approach allows them to immediately acquire knowledge that can be applied in practice, and many of them remain permanently employed in the company after completing the training.
Green transition as a business strategy
Medena Commerce is the carrier ISO 14001 certificateand sustainability is an integral part of its business model. The company is actively implementing green transition measures:
- solar panels cover up to 30% of energy needs
- steel waste is recycled in a controlled and responsible manner
- students and workers are educated about green practices in industry
In this way, not only production develops, but also awareness of the sustainable development of future generations of experts.
GIZ support and development of green competences
The development of Medena fits into the wider framework of the project “Improving the framework for sustainable secondary vocational education with a focus on green transformation”which implements ZDK Chamber of Commerce with the support of GIZ.
These activities are part of the program SEDEP – Sustainable economic development and promotion of employmentwho financially support:
- German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ)
- Government of Switzerland
The aim of the program is to strengthen the employability of young people through the digital and green transformation of the economy in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
