In his address, which lasted five minutes, Sanchez asked citizens to avoid unnecessary trips and phone calls.
He emphasized that although the situation is difficult, there are currently no security issues.
Sanchez admitted that the current situation caused great difficulties for the population, but convinced the public that the government is working intensively on quickly resolving the problem.
In three regions, Andalusia, Extremaduri and Madrid, additional powers will be applied to civil protection laws.
“The reconstruction of the electricity network is already in progress. Thanks to the interconnectors with France and Morocco, for helping in this process. The problem arose due to strong technical fluctuations in the European Energy System, but we still do not have concrete information about the cause,” Sanchez said.
