Washington’s statement came a day after US President Donald Trump threatened Madrid with a complete cut off of trade relations, reports Spanish RTVE.
“Spain has agreed to cooperate with the US military in the past few hours,” White House spokeswoman Caroline Leavitt told reporters.
“I think they heard the president’s message very clearly yesterday,” she said, adding that “the US military is coordinating with its counterparts in Spain.”
The latest tensions came after Spain previously refused to allow the United States to use its military bases to launch operations against Iran. Due to this decision, President Trump announced yesterday that he will “cut off all trade with Spain”.
However, the Spanish government denies the claims of the White House about an agreement reached on cooperation with the US military.
