Smaller number of students in primary and secondary schools

In the 2024/2025 school year. In the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the total number of students enrolled in regular elementary schools and schools for students with developmental disabilities is 163,676, while 70,344 regular students attend secondary school education, the Federal Bureau of Statistics announced.

“Compared to the previous school year, the total number of students enrolled in regular elementary schools and schools for students with developmental disabilities is lower by 1.9 percent, that is, by 3,141 students. The share of female students in the total number of students is 48.7 percent”, according to the Federal Bureau of Statistics.

The number of regular students attending high school education is lower by 0.02 percent, i.e. by 12 students compared to the previous school year. The share of female students in secondary education is 50.4 percent.

“Looked at by cantons, the largest number of students enrolled in regular elementary schools and schools for students with developmental disabilities is in Sarajevo Canton (23.5 percent compared to the total number of enrolled students in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina) and Tuzla Canton (20.4 percent) , and the lowest number of enrolled students is in Posavina Canton (0.9 percent) and Bosnia and Herzegovina Canton (1.2 percent),” according to the reports of the Federal Bureau of Statistics.

Observed by cantons, the largest number of students attending secondary school education is in the Sarajevo Canton (22 percent compared to the total number of enrolled students in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina) and the Tuzla Canton (20 percent), while the smallest number of students is in the Bosnia and Herzegovina Canton (one percent) and Posavina Canton (one percent).

“Looking at the type of secondary school, the largest number of students attend technical and related schools (53 percent), followed by gymnasiums (21.7 percent), and professional three-year schools (20.6 percent),” data from the Federal Bureau of Statistics show. Independent newspaper.
