Marko Šljivić, a skier from Bosnia and Herzegovina, achieved a historic result for BiH yesterday at the Winter Olympic Games, winning 23rd place in the slalom and achieved the best ranking of our country in the technical disciplines of alpine skiing.
Šljivić pointed out that the conditions on the track were very difficult due to the fog, snow and demanding setting, which led to a large number of competitors giving up.
“Slalom is my primary discipline. The conditions were very difficult, and the technically demanding setting of the track led to many dropouts in the first run, which I eventually took advantage of,” said Šljivić.
With an excellent second run, he ensured the ranking of his career, stressing that he did not have high expectations.
“The ranking itself is important. Sometimes reaching the finish line of the race is a success. When I add up and subtract everything, I am satisfied with my performance and I hope that I will only go on an upward path,” said Šljivić.
At the Winter Olympic Games “Milano-Cortina”, one of our competitors will be Esma Alić tomorrow in the women’s slalom.
Let’s remind you that Elvedina Muzarefija twice improved the best result of Bosnia and Herzegovina at the current Games. First, she was 20th in the downhill, and in the super giant slalom, she placed 16th, the best ever for a competitor at the Winter Olympics.
