A gunman killed six people in the US state of Mississippi in incidents that took place at three different locations, the Clay County Sheriff’s Office said.
“Unfortunately, we have been faced with a tragedy in our community,” Clay County Sheriff Eddie Scott wrote on Facebook, according to NBC News.
The shootings took place last night in West Point, near the border with Alabama, AP reports.

Scott said that six people lost their lives, some of whom were related to the perpetrator.
Officials did not provide additional information about the shooting or identify the victims.
The suspect is in custody and there is no additional threat to the community, Scott added.
