Young Croatian tennis player Dino Prižmić (20) achieved the victory of his career by defeating Novak Đoković in the second round of the Masters in Rome with a score of 2:6, 6:2, 6:4.
In a match that started several hours late due to rain and lengthy previous matches, after losing the first set, Prižmić showed exceptional mental strength and quality and beat the most successful tennis player of all time, it says Index.
A turnaround after Djokovic’s convincing start
The beginning of the match did not predict this outcome. Đoković seemed safe, he quickly took away Prižmić’s serve and convincingly won the first set with a total of two breaks, 6:2. In that period, the young Croatian collected a lot of unforced errors, which was the result of an aggressive game that later paid off for him.
The second set brought a complete reversal. Prižmić started furiouslytook Djokovic’s serve without losing a point and soon took a big 4:0 lead with two break points. Although Đoković woke up and managed to win two games, Prižmić remained composed, saved the break point and sovereignly brought the set to an end with 6:2, tying the score in sets.

The decisive third set offered a great fight. Both tennis players held their serves for sure in the beginning. The key moment happened with the score 2:2, when Prižmić used the only break point in the third set. Prižmić then confirmed the break and took the lead with 4:2, maintaining a high level of play.
The Croatian tennis player did not falter under pressure. With a 5:4 lead, he served for the win and played one of the best games of the match. With several great serves, including an ace at the end, he closed the match and celebrated the biggest victory of his career so far.
For Prižmić (ATP-79), the victory over Djokovic, ranked fourth in the ATP rankings, was the biggest victory of his career. His only previous win over a top 10 player came two weeks ago against Ben Shelton. In the third round of the ATP Masters 1000 tournament in Rome, Prižmić will play against the better of the doubles, the 31st seed Corner of Humbert and Vito Kopriva.
