During the two-day session of the participants, they discussed the promotion of gender equality and the role of parliaments in shaping women who strengthen women; on the resolution of the IPU Assembly for the issue of Palestine; About the parliamentary strategy to mitigate the long-term impact of conflict on sustainable development, and the choice of the Forum Management for the next two years.
Also, the forum marked 40. Anniversary of the establishment, emphasizing the importance of previous initiatives to improve the role of women in politics and adopting laws. In addition to plenary sessions, a panel on women in politics was held, in which the participants considered the challenges facing in the political sphere, as well as strategies for their greater involvement in decision-making processes.
– Integration of a gender perspective in ‘life’ topics, to ensure equality in political decision-making and support women affected by conflicts, is an important segment of both political action and responsible for vulnerable or neglected members of our society. Experiences and recommendations with the forum are important resources to improve the legislative framework and policies that provide equality of gender – said Salkičević-Dizdarević’s epistle in address during sitting.
At this year’s forum, an analysis of women’s representation in national governments is also presented, ie in the executive and legislative authorities, as well as the position of the head of the state. The report is clearly visible that Bosnia and Herzegovina can have a lot better and has a huge space to increase women’s representation at all levels of government in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
