From Thursday, the city of Rome will start introducing a speed limit of 30 kilometers per hour in the central parts of the Italian capital.
The restriction applies to the ZTL restricted traffic zone in the historic center and another 1,000 city roads, as part of efforts to increase safety and reduce pollution.
Bologna introduced a 30 km/h speed limit on most of its roads two years ago, despite opposition from the central government.
Also, the authorities of this city claim that they have reduced the number of accidents without significantly increasing travel time, ANSA reported.
