With the continuation of street gatherings, he called on workers in the transport, oil and gas industry, and the energy sector to launch a national strike, in order to further increase the pressure on the authorities.
In a message to the protesters, Pahlavi praised their “courage and endurance”, noting that millions of people had responded to his calls to protest in recent days. He assessed that the mass response of citizens shook the ruling structures and, as he stated, exposed the fragility of the security apparatus of the Islamic Republic.
According to him, the next phase of the protest must be based on a constant presence on the streets, but also on economic pressure. Pahlavi believes that cutting off the regime’s financial resources would paralyze the repressive apparatus and weaken the authorities’ ability to respond to civil resistance.
He called on the Protestants to gather again today and tomorrow at 6 p.m., to carry national flags and symbols with them, and to move from several directions towards the city centers, where they should stay for a long time. According to him, such a strategy should show the determination and unity of the citizens.
Addressing members of the security forces who publicly or unofficially expressed support for the opposition, Pahlavi called on them to further slow down and disrupt, as he said, the “repressive machine” of the regime. In the end, he said that he was preparing to return to Iran and that he intended to stand by the people in, as he stated, the imminent victory of the “national revolution”.
