Putin has yet to speak publicly about the United States’ ouster of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro, the protests in Iran or US President Donald Trump’s threats to Greenland.
– The situation on the international stage is getting worse – I don’t think anyone would argue with that – long-standing conflicts are intensifying, and new serious hotspots are emerging – Putin said with a smile.
In a speech to new ambassadors who presented their credentials at the Kremlin, his first public statements on foreign policy issues this year, Putin did not specifically mention the United States or Trump.
– We hear the monologue of those who, by the right of force, consider it permissible to dictate their will, lecture others and issue orders. Russia is sincerely committed to the ideals of a multipolar world – said Putin.
Putin called for a discussion on Russian proposals for a new security architecture in Europe.
Hopefully the recognition of this need will come sooner or later. Until then, Russia will continue to consistently pursue its goals – he said.
