The US President Donald Trump tried to separate Greenland from Denmark, which represents global dangers because the growing security challenges endanger the World Order, said Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederixen in an interview for Newsweek.
The leader of one of the smaller European countries, Mette Frederixen, found himself in an unexpected conflict with the world’s most powerful president around the huge Arctic island, which he says he must decide on his destiny.
Earlier this month, Trump stated that it does not exclude the use of force to acquire Greenland, claiming that this is crucial for the safety of the United States and the world.
“I tried to deescale the situation because in this world, with a very aggressive Russia, with a closer cooperation between Iran, I will do everything to ensure that nothing is to stick to the most important values and principles,” Frederixen in the exclusive interview in his office in the palace Christiansborg in Copenhagen.
Greenland is an autonomous territory within the Kingdom of Denmark, NATO members. Although surveys in January showed that the vast majority of Greenland wants independence from Denmark, even more of them were against joining the United States.
In relation to his economic strength, Denmark is one of the largest financial supporters of Ukraine from the Russian invasion 2022. Frederixen said that there would be a “disaster” that Russia wins the war.
