According to Greek and Israeli media, a Panathinaikos fan physically attacked and verbally abused the owner of Hapoel Tel Aviv, Ofer Yannai, who was in the stands at the time. The incident attracted a lot of public attention and provoked strong reactions from the club from Athens.
Immediately after the match, Panathinaikos issued an official statement in which it strongly condemned the violent act, noting that the identified fan was banned from matches for life. As stated, the fan’s season ticket was confiscated and he was permanently banned from entering the OAKA hall.
The club said that violent and racist behavior has no place in the Panathinaikos hall, stressing the policy of zero tolerance towards incidents that endanger the safety of participants and damage the reputation of the club.
As for the sports part, the game was very dynamic, with several series and reversals, but Panathinaikos broke the duel at the beginning of the fourth quarter, after which Hapoel Tel Aviv failed to find an answer.
The most efficient player in Panathinaikos was Kendrick Nunn with 19 points, while Cedi Osman added 17 and Mathias Lessort 11 points. In the Hapoel Tel Aviv team, Ennis stood out with 16 points, while Blakeney and Bryant scored 14 each.
