Analysis of evidence, including satellite images and verified video footage, suggests “that the school was hit at the same time as a nearby Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) naval base,” it said. The New York Times.

Satellite images show that the school building was hit by “perfectly precise strikes” along with several facilities inside the IRGC base.
Analysts believe that there may have been a wrong identification of the target, and former human rights experts emphasize that the attackers are obliged by international law to check the status of the target in order to protect civilians.
The school used to be part of a military base, but it was remodeled and since 2016 it has been used exclusively as an educational facility. Satellite data suggests that the attackers, despite their advanced intelligence capability, may have misidentified their target.
