Medical humanitarian organization Doctors without borders (IMF) claimed that Israel “instrumentalized the humanitarian needs” in Gaza by its decision to suspend the assistance and exclude the current of Palestinian territory.
– Israeli authorities resemble the use of assistance as a negotiation asset – said in a statement by MSF coordinator for emergency cases Myriam Laaroussi.
– That’s unheard of. Humanitarian aid should never be used as a trump card in war – she said.
Israel stopped the delivery to the War Rounded Gaza after stalemate around the fragile truce, which was 19. January reduced hostilities after more than 15 months of relentless fight.
Prior to the current round of negotiations in Doha, Israel interrupted the electricity supply on Sunday the only territory desalination plant, in the move that Hamas sentenced as “cheap and unacceptable blackmail”.
Describing that move as “collective punishment”, the IMF required Israel to “end the inhumane belt blockade”.
It was warned that with the suspension of electricity supply, the plant for desalination of water in Khan Younis in the south of the territory is already left without fuel.
– The plant reduced its production from 17 million to 2.5 million liters per day – stated in a statement.
– This decision on the interruption of electricity supply will gradually influence the public water supply of about 2.4 million people in Gaza, which are already affected by a difficult humanitarian crisis.
– Blockade of all supplies inevitably harms hundreds of thousands of people and has deadly consequences – said Laaroussi, AFP.
The MSF said that the last delivery in Gaz was performed on 27. February, when they sent three trucks that were mostly transported by medical supplies.
He warns that they also faced critical shortages before blocking people in the field.
– Although several trucks entered the truce, the system of entry of Israeli authorities, which is used to interfere with humanitarian aid, prevented us correctly, even before this blockade said Laaroussi.
