Zrinjski defeated Velež with a score of 3:0 in the last round of the WWin League of Bosnia and Herzegovina, in a match played under Bijeli Brijeg.
This time, the Mostar derby had no result in the battle for the top of the table, but prestige was still a strong motive for both teams.
It was the sixth duel of the city rivals this season, in which Zrinjski registered its fourth victory, while two matches ended without a winner.
The home team opened the game better and created several opportunities in the early stages. Ćavar had the first serious chance after Memija’s cross, but the ball went over the goal. The visitors responded through Đurić, but the goalkeeper of Zrinjski was safe.
In the 14th minute, a crucial moment followed, when Bilbija took advantage of a defensive error and put Zrinjski in the lead with a precise free kick. Not long after, he missed another great opportunity, but by the end of the first half, he still scored the second goal, confirming the dominance of the home team.
In the continuation of the match, Zrinjski continued to control the game, and Bilbija could have scored a hat-trick, but he was not accurate after one action.
In the 83rd minute, Nalić increased the advantage to 3:0 with a great shot, which practically decided the winner of the derby. Just two minutes later, Velež had a chance to reduce the score from the penalty spot, but goalkeeper Ljubić saved Nukić’s shot.
This round brought down the curtain on the WWin League BiH season. FK Borac Banja Luka is the national champion, while Zrinjski, Sarajevo and Velež won participation in European competitions. Rudar Prijedor and Posušje were relegated from the league.
