In the last game of the 28th round of the French Ligue 1, Monaco beat Marseille 2-1 and thus equaled points with tonight’s opponent and actively participated in the fight for a place in the Champions League.
There were no goals in the first half, and in the 59th minute, Aleksandr Golovin put Monaco in the lead. It was doubled by Folarin Balogun in the 74th minute, and Marseille only managed to reduce the deficit to 2-1 by the end of the match with Amine Gouiri’s goal in the 85th minute.
The team from the Principality jumped to fifth place with 49 points, overtaking Lyon (48) and Rennes (47). Marseille is in fourth place with 49 points, and third-placed Lille has just one point more. Leading PSG with 63 points and runner-up Lens with 59 moved up.
