The ninth traditional street basketball tournament called “Basketball for Tolerance”, with the aim of promoting tolerance, respect for diversity and the culture of peace, was held on Friday in Livno.
The tournament was attended by basketball players from Livno, children and youth with developmental disabilities from the Association “Put u život” (PUŽ) Livno, and volunteers.
The organizers of the event were Coalition for the fight against hatred “Uvažaženje” and Women’s basketball club Livnowith the support of the City of Livno and the OSCE Mission to Bosnia and Herzegovina.
He had the tournament this year as well humanitarian character. As part of the event, citizens were offered cakes, pancakes and other baked goods by members of the PUŽ Association of Parents of Children with Developmental Disabilities, the Women’s Association of the Majlis of the Islamic Community of Livno, the Marijanska Vinkovska Mladeži Livno, the “Bistrica” Association of Livno and the “Uvažanje” Coalition, reports Fena.
The organizers pointed out that the goal is events to promote positive values and humanity and contribute to the positive image of Livno, and this year’s tournament was also supported by an NBA basketball player with his participation Karlo Matkovic.
The participants of the tournament also played for the “Bistrica” Association of women suffering from breast cancer from Livonia, which was collected through the sale of humanitarian cakes. 1,452 KM for equipping the new space and regular activities of the association.
The coordinator of the “Respect” Coalition, Željka Mihaljević, said that the organizers are particularly proud that the tournament contributes to the inclusion of children and youth with developmental disabilities for the fourth year.
Each of the six three-member teams consisted of one PUŽ member, one volunteer and one basketball player. pointed out Mihaljević.
