The IRGC, founded after Iran’s Islamic Revolution in 1979 to protect the Shiite clerical system of government, has a large utcaj in the country, controlling parts of the economy and armed forces, and is also in charge of Iran’s ballistic missile program and nuclear arsenal, Reuters reports.
