The last ski jumping competition at the 25th Winter Olympic Games in Milan and Cortina took place on Monday, when the best jumpers competed in the super team pairs event for the first time in the history of the ZOI.
Each national team was represented by two jumpers, not four as was the case until now. This competition replaced the classic team competition with four jumpers.
The premier edition did not go as hoped, because the third series of jumps was canceled due to snowfall, so only two, or more precisely, four jumps were counted for the final standings.
In the end, Austrians Hoerl and Embacher won convincingly with 568.7 points, ahead of Poles Pawel Wasek and Kacper Tomasiak with 547.3 points, while Norwegians Johann Andre Forfang and Kristoffer Eriksen Sundal won bronze with 538 points.
Due to the interruption of the competition, the Japanese and Germans became the tragic victims who, after the fifth jumps, were in positions that bring medals.
After silver on the small and bronze on the large jump in the individual competition, it was already the third medal for the Pole Tomasiak in Milan and Cortina.
