Her death came after she publicly made serious allegations against her parents and brother in recent months, claiming that she had been systematically sexually and ritually abused from an early age. The circumstances of the death are unclear, Israeli media reports, reports Index.hr.
Serious allegations of abuse
Last year, Shošana Strok spoke publicly for the first time about what she described as ritual sexual abuse within her own family.

She claimed that since she was two and a half years old, her parents forced her to participate in ceremonies during which she was abused, drugged and hypnotized. She also stated that her father began to sexually exploit her in Tel Aviv from the age of 13 for financial gain.
In addition to sexual violence, she described in detail the so-called conversion therapy and the rituals that were used to erase her lesbian identity.
In one of the posts, she described “rituals where homosexuals and children would have to put their hands on my chest to make me realize that I was attracted to men and them to realize that they were attracted to women.”
She shared her experiences on social media, admitting that her memories and anxiety related to recounting the trauma were extremely intense.
Fear of murder
Shortly before her death, Shoshana released a statement to make it clear that she was not suicidal. Her friend stated that Shoshana did not intend to kill herself, but was afraid that someone might kill her, and that she was focused on achieving justice. This information was conveyed by Israeli journalist Sefi Rahlevski, known for his critical coverage of Orthodox Judaism.
“According to the person who followed Shoshana and talked to her yesterday, she was not suicidal at all. On the contrary, she was constantly afraid that she would be killed,” Rahlevski announced.
Shosana herself previously quoted the words of another victim of ritual abuse:
“The abusers are… MPs, rabbis, powerful people… people who can make any of us disappear… If they tell you I committed suicide – don’t believe it… I’m here. I exist. And I intend to stay.”
According to the Jerusalem Post, Shoshana was found dead in her home, but details are still sketchy.
The mother spoke up
Her mother announced the death on Facebook, writing: “It is with a heavy heart that I announce the passing of our beloved daughter, Shoshana. Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich said that exploiting the tragedy for political attacks would be “vile and despicable.”
Police confirmed that an investigation into the death is ongoing, but an official cause has not yet been released.
Shoshana filed reports of abuse in Italy and Israel. In Israel, her case is handled by the Lahav 433 unit, in charge of serious crimes and corruption. Meanwhile, a court injunction prevents Israeli media from reporting details of the allegations against her family, making vetted international media the main source of information for the public.
