European Union member states that join US and Israeli attacks on Iran become “legitimate targets” of Iran, Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister Majid Taht-Ravanchi said.
“Any country that joins aggression against Iran, joins America and Israel in aggression against Iran, will definitely also become a legitimate target for Iran to retaliate,” Taht-Ravanchi said in an interview with France 24 television.
Most of the EU calls for a diplomatic solution
While some EU countries such as France, Greece and Italy have sent their warships to the Middle East, most senior EU officials have condemned Iran’s attacks in the region, and members have mostly called for an end to the conflict and a diplomatic solution.
German Chancellor Friedrich Merz said on Friday that Berlin was working with partners to find an approach to end the fighting with Iran, adding that his country shared the goals of the United States and Israel.
The fiercest critic of the US-Israeli intervention is Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez, who has repeatedly condemned the bombing of Iran, calling it reckless and illegal, and has banned the use of US aircraft from naval and air bases in southern Spain to attack Tehran.
