Iran has allowed some Indian ships to pass through the Strait of Hormuz, Mohammad Fathali said on Saturday, confirming a rare exception to the blockade that has disrupted global energy supplies.
Fathali did not specify how many ships were granted safe passage. He was speaking at a rally organized by India Today Television in New Delhi.
Since the United States and Israel launched an offensive against Iran, Tehran has largely shut down traffic through the strait, which runs along its coast and through which about 20 percent of global oil and liquid natural gas is shipped by sea.
