In the last few days, the Tešanj Health Center has recorded increase in the number of patients with symptoms of viral diseases of the respiratory system. These are acute respiratory infections caused by the influenza virus, adenoviruses, rhinoviruses, respiratory syncytial virus, as well as other viruses that are most often present in the period from October to March.
Similar symptoms and easy way of transmission
All viral diseases of the respiratory organs have similar symptoms, including fever, cough, sore throat, sneezing, fatigue and malaise. Diseases are most often transmitted close contact with a sick personthrough tiny droplets that occur during breathing, speaking, coughing or sneezing, but also through unclean hands and objects.
The importance of preventive measures
Tešanj Health Center emphasizes that timely self-protection is key in reducing the risk of disease. Citizens are advised to avoid close contact with sick people, staying in closed and poorly ventilated spaces, as well as crowds. It is recommended to wash your hands frequently, regularly ventilate and maintain the hygiene of the space, dress appropriately and avoid cooling the body.
How to act when symptoms appear
In case of symptoms, it is recommended to stay at home, rest, drink enough fluids, take vitamins and cough relievers. Citizens are advised to consult by phone with their family medicine clinic or pediatricianespecially when it comes to small children, because it is often not necessary to visit a health facility. An elevated temperature, in addition to medication, can also be lowered with compresses or showering with lukewarm water.
If the symptoms worsen or do not subside after three days, despite the application of the recommended measures, it is necessary to contact a family medicine doctor or a pediatrician.
