Bosnia and Herzegovina records a significant increase in the import of vehicles from China, according to the data of the Indirect Tax Administration (ITA) of BiH. During 2025, a total of 682 vehicles worth 14.59 million KM were imported, with calculated duties of 4.9 million KM.
Compared to the previous year, this is an increase in the number of imported vehicles of approximately 87 percent. Namely, in 2024, 364 vehicles with a total value of 7.08 million KM were imported, while in 2023, the import of 191 vehicles from China, worth 4.05 million KM, was registered.
Chinese brands, once criticized for inferior quality and design, are now increasingly competing with European and Korean rivals – relying not only on lower prices, but also on the overall experience they offer users.
When it comes to the structure, in 2025, 605 new and 77 used vehicles were imported, in 2024, the ratio was 294 new and 70 used vehicles, and in 2023, 116 new and 75 used vehicles were imported from China.
The data clearly show that the greatest growth was recorded in the segment of new vehicles, which also indicates a greater presence of Chinese manufacturers in Bosnia and Herzegovina. the market. Thus, during January of this year, 23 vehicles were imported, of which 20 were new and three were used. The ITA could not specify data on the models and brands of vehicles imported from China.
The growing trend of vehicle imports from China is associated with more favorable prices, the expansion of the offer of electric and hybrid models, and the strengthening of cooperation between Chinese manufacturers and local distributors. Experts point out that the continuation of this growth could significantly affect the structure of the domestic car market, where until now European brands dominated, writes Factor.
