As we were told in several municipal services for veterans and disabled protection in the Sarajevo Canton, the wife of a deceased demobilized veteran can receive subsistence allowance, regardless of whether she has been at the bureau for a year.
– In order to achieve subsistence allowance, her income must not exceed more than 50 percent of the lowest pension paid in December of the previous year. The subsistence allowance for persons up to 57 years of age is six KM per month spent in the army – we were told.
In order to exercise this right, the wife must present a marriage certificate, a signed declaration that she has not started a new marriage, a certificate of movement, a certificate for her husband that he was a member of the RBiH Army, proof from the Tax Administration that she does not have an income higher than 50 percent of the lowest pension paid in December 2025 to the competent municipality, service for veterans and disabled protection. At that time, the lowest pension was 599.28 KM, and 50 percent of that amount is 299 KM.
The spouse of a deceased demobilized defender, a returnee to the entity Republika Srpska or Brčko District of BiH, can exercise the right to monetary subsistence allowance, regardless of age, if he or she does not have a monthly income in the amount of more than 50 percent of the minimum pension paid in the Federation of BiH for the previous year and if the deceased was a member of the armed forces for at least 12 months.
The right to monetary subsistence allowance from the federal level can be exercised by the wife of a deceased demobilized defender if she is 57 years of age on the date of submission of the application and if she does not have a monthly income in the amount of more than 50 percent of the minimum pension paid in the Federation for the month of December of the previous year. The subsistence allowance from the federal level amounts to 5.57 KM per month spent in the defense of the country, it says Factor.
