Such a move was assessed as a dangerous precedent and an unacceptable attempt to gain false legitimacy from a fascist creation that occupies Palestinian land, commits war crimes and genocide, and faces increasing international isolation.
Hamas reiterated its complete rejection of Israel’s plans to forcibly relocate the Palestinian people, including the idea of using Somali territories as a destination for Gaza residents.
The statement said that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s attempt to recognize the separatist administration in Somalia is a reflection of the depth of international isolation Israel faces due to accusations of genocide.
Hamas called for the continuation and strengthening of international efforts, both at the grassroots and official levels, with the aim of further isolating Israel and holding its leaders accountable for crimes against humanity.
Recently, there have been more and more frequent official statements by Israeli officials about plans to forcibly send Palestinians from Gaza to other countries, while Israeli media claimed that Palestinians could be resettled in certain African countries, including Somalia.
Israel’s unilateral recognition of the separatist region of Somaliland as an independent state further raised concerns that the move could be a prelude to plans to resettle Palestinians from the Gaza Strip into the area. Israel thus became the first country to recognize Somaliland, which unilaterally declared independence from Somalia.
