The Manchester City star Erling Braut Haaland paid 118,000 euros for the most expensive Norwegian book of all time, local media reported.
It is a unique edition of Snorra Sturlason Royal sagas from 1594.
Experts describe this release as “icon among all icons” of Norwegian literature and the only complete copy in private ownership, making it the most expensive Norwegian book ever sold. This work is one of the first printed works on Norwegian history, significant for the transfer of royal sagas from the medieval manuscript tradition to print.
The book was auctioned in December from the collection of Johan Fredrik Odfjell, and it was later revealed that the buyers were Haaland and his father Alfie.
Norwegian striker will not keep the bookbut will donate it to the municipality or the library in the town of Bryne, where he grew up. He set one condition for the library.

The book will be connected with the reading competition in schools in the municipality next school year. The prize for the best in the competition will be a visit to the Ullevaal stadium in Oslo and watching the game of the Norwegian national team.
