UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres assessed that the US attack on Venezuela represents a dangerous precedent and pointed out the importance of respecting international law and the UN Charter.
Guterres expressed deep concern over the dramatic escalation of the situation in Venezuela, which culminated in the US military operation and the arrest of President Nicolas Maduro, said the representative of the Secretary General, Stefan Dižarik.
He stated that Guterres was concerned that the rules of international law were not respected.
The Secretary General called on all actors in Venezuela to engage in dialogue, with full respect for human rights and the rule of law.
