Arsenal players won the English league title after Manchester City drew away at Bournemouth. After the game, Pep Guardiola congratulated Mikel Arteta and the Arsenal players on their success.
The battle for the title between Topnik and Citizens it lasted until the very endand the decision was made last night at the Vitality Stadium.
City needed a win to stay in the race, but Pep Guardiola’s team won only a point, making Arsenal the English champions again after almost 22 years.
After the game, Pep Guardiola reflected on the season and congratulated Arsenal on winning the title.
Congratulations to Mikel and Arsenal, they were phenomenal, said the Spanish strategist and then added:
We were close. On behalf of everyone at Manchester City, I congratulate Mikel, the coaching staff, the players and the fans of Arsenal on winning the Premier League. They deserved it.
Guardiola also commented on the possibility of leaving the Citizens’ bench.
My contract lasts for one more year. At the end of the season I will talk to the president of the club, he said then continued:
I won’t talk about it now. First I have to talk to the president, the players and my staff. I’m overjoyed that I am in this extraordinary club. There is no happier person than me to be part of this club. This club is special. When we finish the season, we will sit down and make a decisionGuardiola concluded.
The 38th round remains until the end of the Premier League, in which Arsenal will visit Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park, while Manchester City will host Aston Villa at the Etihad.
