The Federal Police Administration has had no director since 2019. The function of the acting director of the FUP was performed by Vahidin Munjić, who was banned as part of the investigation in the case of “Munjić and others”, and Enes Zeljković and Aldin Sinanović. The independent committee of the Federal Parliament sent the names of candidates for director and deputy director of the Police Administration to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The independent committee of the Federal Parliament conducted interviews with candidates for director and deputy director of the Federal Police Administration. Igor Marić applied for the position of director, while the candidate for deputy is Vahidin Šahinpašić. As the president of the Independent Board said, the candidates meet all the set criteria.
Amar Hadžiomerović, president of the Independent Committee of the FBiH Parliament, said that the candidate for director Igor Marić received a score of 95, while the candidate for deputy director Vahidin Šahinpašić received a total score of 98.85. After seven years of FUP not having a legally elected director, now there is an opportunity to get a new management that will manage the institution for the next four years.
While Marić did not want to address the media, Šahinpašić said that his plan was to create good results and a good atmosphere. It is expected that the appointments of new FUP managers will contribute to the stabilization and strengthening of the management structure of this federal institution.
“The plan and program is to make good results, to make a good atmosphere, to look at everything that is there from human resources, material and technical means and everything else that we need,” said Vahidin Šahinpašić, candidate for the deputy director of the FUP.
According to the procedure, the Independent Board sends a list of candidates to the Minister of Internal Affairs, and the Minister to the Government, which makes the final decision on the appointment of the new leadership of the Federal Police Administration.
“As soon as I receive it from the Independent Board, I will send it to the Government, I have nothing against it. I want the director and deputy of the Federal Police Administration to be appointed,” said Ramo Isak, Federal Minister of the Interior.
The Federal Police Administration has been operating without a full-time director for a long time. The last director, Dragan Lukač, retired seven years ago, which left this key position vacant for a long period of time. The Trade Union of Police Officers of the FUP says that they are eagerly awaiting the new leadership, because they need, as they said, a real partner with whom they would steer the FUP in the right direction, writes N1 BiH.
