Europe House runs a competition “Trashformers: Schools transform waste” Invoking primary and secondary schools throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina to participate in the creation of sustainable waste reductions, the principles of “3R”.
The competition allows students to use and applies the elements of the circular economy in their schools and local communities, promote waste reduction, reuse of materials and recycling. This competition is an opportunity for students to get involved in the changes that will contribute to environmental protection and strengthening sustainable practices, in accordance with the key policies of the European Environmental Union.
Who can participate?
The competition is open For all primary and secondary schools in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Each school can report one project per class or school section (eg environmental sections), with at least 10, and a maximum of 25 students in the team. The deadline for applications is 14.5.2025.
Competition format
Applications to the competition are submitted in Short video forms for a maximum of 180 secondswhich through the picture and word It represents a project activity to reduce waste, reuse and / or recycling, which students designed and applied or plan to apply in their schools and / or communities.
Projects can encompass (but are not limited to):
- Conversion (Eng. Upcycling “) of school and other materials or furniture in new, functional facilities;
- Organizing school snacks without waste from packaging and others. (Eng. “Zero-Waste”);
- Starting the challenges of “DAYS WASTE” in school;
- Establishment of a recycling system in the school or organization of awareness raising campaigns;
- Innovations in the circular economy, such as the reuse of textiles or the use of biodegradable alternatives, etc.
Rewards
The five first-placed teams will receive unique ecological excursions for all members of the Nature Park, of the School of Schools and School members, and external and green-design elements – members of the team and school representatives.
Five winning school teams will be invited to the “Europe House” Sarajevo on the event that will take place on 04.06.2025. On the occasion of the European Green Week, on which projects will be held and awards.
