A total of 142 cadets of the Border Police of Bosnia and Herzegovina successfully completed the training as part of the 12th. Generation of the cadet, and today the 117 cadet in the act “police officer” was officially laid down the oath. Additionally, 25 cadets in the act “Junior Inspector” passed its oath earlier this year.
Training, which lasted seven months and included the theoretical and practical part in three phases, was realized with the financial support of the European Union (EU) in the amount of more than 500,000 euros.
The oath laying ceremony was attended by the EU Delegation and EU Special Representative, Ambassador of Luigi Sorec, who emphasized the role of new police officers and strengthening the security borders of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as European security as a whole. Soreca pointed out that the EU will continue to support BiH in building a sustainable migration management system.
BiH Border Police Director, Mirko Kuprešaković, emphasized the importance of education and continuous staff development, emphasizing that only professionally trained police officers can respond to the growing challenges of cross-border crime and security threats. “Our goal is to meet the criteria for joining the European Union,” Kuprešaković said.
The Deputy Security Minister of BiH, Ivica Bošnjak, congratulated new cadets in success and pointed out the importance of their new role as the first person representing the state guests and citizens. “There are great expectations in front of you to contribute to the security of all citizens through professional work,” Bosniak said.

The European Union, in cooperation with the International Organization for Migration (IOM), will continue to support BiH institutions and border management sectors through training, supply and capacity building and operational efficiency throughout the country.
