The European Union today has donated specialized equipment worth 1.4 million KM to the Border Police of Bosnia and Herzegovina, with the aim of improving their operational capacities.
The equipment includes 25 short and medium-scale drones, 30 hand thermal cameras and 5 heart rate detectors, along with specialized training for drones operators.
In addition to advanced monitoring technologies, the donation includes four trailers intended for the transport of official dogs, which will be delivered next week. Together, these resources will significantly improve supervisory and inspection capacities at border crossings and along the border.
On behalf of the EU Delegation, the equipment has submitted Karel Lizerot, the head of the public administration, Mirko Kuprešaković’s border police, Deputy Mission International Organization (IOM) in Bosnia and Herzegovina, organization responsible for the implementation of the process Procurement and supervision of this project.

Migration management requires a comprehensive approach to solving complex humanitarian and security challenges. Therefore, the EU is continuously supported by the Ministry of Security and Bosnia and Herzegovina in the construction of a sustainable migration management system. CONSIDERING that this task requires significant funds, the EU has also funded the seven-month training program in 2025. years for 142 new cadets of the border police (XII million KM, adding to last year’s 150 cadets from the XI generation.
During the last seven years, the EU has provided more than 9 million euros to strengthen the capacity of the Border Police of Bosnia and Herzegovina, including delivery of specialized equipment, vehicles, communication systems and IT infrastructure. This investment has directly improved the operational willingness and professionalism of the institutions for the management of the border across the country.
Cooperation between Bosnia and Herzegovina and the EU in the field of migration borders will be further strengthened by the Frontex Status Agreement, 2025, which enables joint operations with Bosnia and Herzegovina and schedule their strength along the country’s border.
The European Union, in cooperation with the International Organization for Migration (IOM) will continue to support the capacity of Bosnia and Herzegovina in the field of migration management, the construction of foreigners, border police and the BiH Police Department and other institutions and agencies and agencies responsible for this Sector.
