The President of the Turkish Recep Tayyip Erdoğan was held by the first official meeting with pro-custody politicians who actively work at the end of the long-term armed conflict between the Turkish State and Militants of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKC), the Associated Press Agency.
This is the first direct contact after the previous meeting held in March, which followed after the PKK announced a one-sided ceasefire, in response to the call of the closed leader of Abdullah Öcalan on demobilization.
Although this move is considered important stepping out for more than four decades of long violence, Turkish authorities remain careful.
The Government in Ankara said that the specific PKK moves must precede any talks on the expansion of the Right Community.
With Erdoğan’s ruling coalition, which includes its Party of Justice and Development (AKP), but also the nationalist MHP-oriented MHP, negotiations support the Procuruing Dem Party.
However, the Turkish president warned that military operations would continue if the agreed steps are not complicated.
