Taekwondo club Poskok performed with five competitors at the international points taekwondo tournament Bosnia and Herzegovina Open 2025, which has E1 status in Europe.
The tournament was held in Sarajevo, organized by the Taekwondo Association of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and approx 600 competitors from Europe and the world in the ages of cadets, juniors and seniors in sports combat.
The most successful Posuš fighter in this tournament was David Milićević who performed in the junior category until 68 kilograms where is through four convincing victories got the gold medal and 10 new points on the ETU ranking. David, as the second seed, was free in the first round, and after that, the results 2:0 in roundsdefeated the representatives of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Turkey, Romania and in the final again Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Apart from David, others got the opportunity to perform at this prestigious taekwondo tournament four members of the Posuša club in the age of cadets, where they failed to win medals in a tough and numerous competition. They represented the Posuška club Marko Bakula KM-37, Mija Begić KŽ-37, Anđa Tomić KŽ-44, Philip Bakul KŽ-47.
Posuška athletes were led by coaches in this competition Karlo Galić and Petar Boban. During this week, the European final Grand prix tournament will be held in Sarajevo, where they will compete for four days the best European athletes in the cadet and junior age groups who managed to qualify through previous tournaments. Taekwondo club Poskok will represent the national team of Bosnia and Herzegovina at this tournament Anamarija Miličević and the category of junior women up to 55 kg i Lucija Milicevic in the category of junior women up to 68 kg. The gold medalists in this tournament win i a cash prize of 1000 euros which is unique in the world of junior taekwondo sports.
Coach Petar Boban he said that 10 days ago, after recovering from pneumonia, David took part in the European junior championship in Switzerland for the Croatian taekwondo national team, where after winning the first round, he lost in the second round, losing to the number one holder of the category.
It was seen then that more he was not fully recovered and lacked the strength for something more. These fights in Sarajevo showed that he is now recovered and that a good result can be expected from him in the next competition. This was also for David the last junior appearance of his career and I am very happy that he ended his junior career in this way. Already on the second Sunday in Pristina, he is expected to perform at the European Senior U-21 Championship for younger seniors, where he will perform for the Croatian national team. David, although he is the junior and senior U-21 champion of Croatia, is currently playing at all European championships he has to finance himself and that is a big problem. Our club managed to secure funds for the European Junior Championship, but not yet for the European Senior Championship. Taekwondo sport at this level has become relatively expensive sport, and we, as a club, do not have a large enough budget to be able to always pay for all that, and in the future we hope for greater support from institutions and sponsors, Boban stated.
