Croatian handball player Ivan Horvat (32), member of the Austrian First League Alpa HC Hard, is suspended for as much as 26 months due to the rough violation in the Meeting of the quarterfinals of the Austria’s Handball Championship against Bregenz.
Horvat is at 42. A minute a hand in his face hit the opponent’s handball player Markusa Mahrawho suffered multiple nose fracture. Mahr was urgently transported to the hospital and operated.
The judges showed the Horvat red, and then the Blue Cardboard, but Bregenz asked Horvata and a longer suspension from one game. The Disciplinary Commission of the Austrian Handball Alliance eventually decided on a drastic punishment and banned the horvat to play on 26 monthsevaluating his move as “extremely unsportsmanlike behavior.” Horvat has the right to appeal that decision.

I’ve never seen such an unfair move as a Horvat. They probably plan to win the championship but I honestly don’t want to meet themsaid Coach Bregenza Marko Tanasković, and the club added the club in a statement: This was not the first dangerous move of this player against us, Mahr barely managed to avoid attack in the first round of the quarterfinalswrites index.hr.
Ivan Horvat is the left outer who has been performing for Alplu for years, and earlier was a member of Bjelovar, Varaždin and German Flensburg.
