The commander of the EUFOR Althea mission, Major General Maurizio Fronda, held a meeting with the Commander of the Operational Command of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Major General Mirzet Lubenović and his deputies, Brigadier General Martin Propadal and Brigadier General Nebojš Bošnjak, for high-level discussions on operational coordination and the continuation of military cooperation through joint training initiatives.
Ahead of the start of training next week for Combined Response 2026, both sides emphasized the importance of joint training between EUFOR and the AF of BiH in an effort to improve interoperability, confirm joint readiness and ensure full compliance within EUFOR’s executive mandate under the Dayton Peace Agreement.
The meeting emphasized the strength and maturity of the professional relationship between EUFOR and the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Both sides emphasized that close coordination, transparency and constant dialogue remain key in preserving a safe environment throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina. The commanders reaffirmed their shared understanding that stability is not static – it requires constant vigilance, readiness and partnership.
Major General Fronda reiterated EUFOR’s firm commitment to remain visible, credible and impartial throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina. He confirmed EUFOR’s full readiness to continue close cooperation with the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina, ensuring sustainable operational efficiency and coordinated engagement in support of local authorities.
The EUFOR commander further emphasized that operational readiness and professional cooperation are the basis of long-term security and remain key to EUFOR’s mission, while joint exercises such as Combined Response 2026 form the basis of cooperation between EUFOR and the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina and preserve the permanent security and stability of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The meeting showed once again that stability is best preserved through trust, professionalism and joint efforts.
