After Bosnia was defeated convincingly 81:66 in the first match, Muhamed Pašalić’s players faced a difficult task to make up for the minus of 15 points.
The first quarter brought balance on the field, and the guests led 14:10 after 10 minutes. Bosnia retaliated in the second quarter, achieving a convincing advantage of 27:11, and went to the break with a score of 37:25 in favor of the home team.
The third quarter also brought the biggest advantage to Bosnia, which at certain moments reached +14. In the last quarter, however, Bosnia ran out of strength and although they recorded a victory, they failed to make up for the deficit from the first game.
With a pyrrhic victory in Zetra, Bosnia said goodbye to the European Cup, but the fans could enjoy the fighting performance of their basketball players.
The most effective player of the evening was Benedek Váradi with 23 points.
In Bosnia, the best were Plummer with 20 and Young with 18 points.
Szombathely’s opponent in the semi-finals of the FIBA Europe Cup will be Spain’s Bilbao.
