Four children were killed in a stabbing attack at a kindergarten in Uganda’s capital, Kampala, on Thursday, police said.
The male suspect entered the facility posing as a parent, after which he attacked the children, who local media reported were between the ages of two and three.
Angry citizens tried to lynch the suspect as he tried to flee, before security forces intervened and arrested him, police spokeswoman Racheal Kawala said.
– We confirm the tragic incident at the Ggaba Early Childhood Development Program school in Makindye municipality, in the city of Kampala, where a male suspect brutally stabbed and killed four children – said Kawala.
The motive for the murders is currently unknown, and the police are investigating.

Footage posted on social media shows distraught parents outside the kindergarten, which is now fenced off, anxiously seeking information about their children and demanding their release.
Such attacks are rare in Uganda.
